Setting:In 2340 the Orion project was launched by the unified governments of earth. Armed with 6 interstellar probes equipped with the revolutionary Heinzt-Molinsky inter stellar drive, the Orion Project’s goal was to find planets ready for terraforming. Work had already begun on Mars to turn the red planet into a habitable world but it was time for the human race to expand beyond the Sol system. It wasn’t until 2465 that the first images returned from Orion 3 and shook the human race to it’s core. The probe showed a perfect blue world. The samples that followed its exploration of the anomalous planet showed it to have an atmosphere that was nearly a perfect match for Earth’s. As the Probe drew closer it returned images of plants and animals that had once been native to earth. Religions world wide tripled in size over night, some people refuring the the newly found world as the Garden of Eden, proof of a creator. It only got worse when Orion 5 began to transmit images of an identical planet hundreds of light years away.
The year is 3233 and there have been six Garden Worlds discovered since the Orion project. Humanity has spread to the stars. Settled now on 10 worlds total there has been no sign of intelligent life found, though life is far more abundant than could ever be imagined. The unified government that had been responsible for the discovery has long since fractured give rise to unruly colony worlds, the fanatic Creationist Alliance, the sprawling Terran Union, and the upstart Star Kingdom of New Madrid.
